There is risk to the developer, but there is also a big savings in time, and time=money!ģ) there is a period of time, and apparently not trivial, to prepare a library for the Player, so developers do need to plan accordingly. If you think about it, well, that's the only way this works without tremendous bookkeeping efforts on the part of both NI and the developer. The first part is discussed on their web site, the factors are simply an irresponsible guess!Ģ) licenses are purchased in bulk. There is some information that is public if you scour their web site:ġ) the license fees are calculated on a case by case basis, I have no idea what the factors might be, but would guess they include the size of the library, the size of the company, and probably the likelihood of sales, however they figure that. NI has a strict NDA (or so I've heard, can't confirm I've ever seen it), and if you are developing Kontakt libraries you do not want to run afoul of NI. As mentioned earlier you aren't going to get the details on Kontakt Player licensing in a public forum, and probably not at all.
